WHO ARE THE MASONS?

Masonry is the oldest, largest and most honorable fraternity known to man. Texas was founded by men who were Masons. From the Father of Texas, Stephen F. Austin, to every single president of the Republic of Texas, Many notable men have been Masons including Sam Houston, Jim Bowie, Davy Crockett, Benjamin Franklin, John Wayne, Eddie Arnold, Gene Autry, Arnold Palmer, plus George Washington and thirteen other Presidents, eight Vice Presidents and forty-two Supreme Court Justices.

WHAT DO MASONS DO?

Masonry encourages its members to become better men, better husbands, better fathers, and better citizens. The fraternal bonds formed in the Lodge help build lifelong friendships among men of similar goals and values.

Supporting Education
Fredericksburg Lodge presents scholarships to 3 deserving high school seniors, from the Fredericksburg and Harper  Independent School Districts.  Also each year, the Fredericksburg Masonic Lodge recognizes an outstanding educator from each of these School districts with the Mirabeau B. Lamar Award.

Christmas Family
For the last several years the Fredericksburg Lodge with the assistance of the needs council, has adopted a Christmas Family. Brothers from the lodge help raise money and collect toys and even food for a needy family during a special time of year.

That is just what our lodge does on a local level. Across the State, across the Nation and across the world you will find Masons working to better their communities.  One example of this is the Shrine Masons (Shriners) which operate the largest network of burn and orthopedic hospitals for children in the country. Scottish Rite Masons maintain a nationwide network of over 150 Childhood Language Disorder Clinics.
