Bullard Masonic Lodge 75757

History

Bullard lodge was chartered in 1896 By the Grand Lodge of Texas. The first WM was WB Beauchamp who served from 1897 to 1900.

To the left (south) of the old building pictured here, was a cafe that eventually closed, and was bought by the Lodge. This was demolished and the present Lodge building erected on its site.

The following history of the building pictured at the left was provided by Bro Brewster Lynch.

This building was located on the present Lodge parking area. At one time, the ground level was a Chevrolet dealership. At the rear was a separate metal building used as an auto repair shop by the dealership, and later as an independent repair shop.

Initially, the Lodge occupied the upper floor, and later bought the building after the auto dealership closed. Access to the upper floor was by an exterior staircase at the rear.

The building had a basement that was flooded to a depth of several feet. Bro Lynch remembers from his boyhood, feeding some rather large turtles that were ever present in the basement.

Anyone knowing additional history of this building, is invited to contact the Webmaster.

The cornerstone of the present Lodge was placed May 8, 1971.

Visit us first Monday each month. We also meet for fellowship, practice, and degree conferals on Thursdays (except Thursday following 1st Monday). See the Calendar page for more info.
