HISTORY OF GRANADA HILLS LODGE No. 378 F&AM
Granada Hills Lodge was formed in San Fernando Lodge No. 343 and applied for dispensation for regular lodge to Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Masons of the state of California and with a special communication of Grand Lodge in 1958 it was constituted as lodge No.790 by Most Worshipful Phil N. Myers on November 22nd, they lodge in San Fernando No. 343 Masonic lodge which was constituted in 1906 until in the late 60’s the lodge purchased the present location on 16535 Rinaldi St in Granada Hills with the dispensation of the Grand lodge. The building was a Christian Church at the time and was upgraded to a Masonic lodge.
In December 1990, Mizpah Lodge No. 378 of Los Angeles, which was constituted in May of 1906 by MW Motley H. Flint request a merger with Granada Hills Lodge No. 790 and was approved on December 1, 1990, to be known as Granada Hills Lodge No. 378.
The Following year, Clarence F. Smith No. 482 which was constituted in 1922 merged with Granada Hills Lodge No. 378 and merger was approved on April 1, 1991, to be known as Granada Hills Lodge No. 378.
In 2006 we celebrated our 100th year anniversary under the leadership of Worshipful Bruce Ewald, PM at the historical San Fernando Lodge No. 343.
Granada Hills Lodge 378 Mission Statement is to promote personal growth and improve the lives of others. We take responsibility for the well-being of our brothers, our families, and the community as a whole. We value respect, kindness, tolerance, and our differences – religious, ethnic, cultural, generational, and educational, and strive for harmony in our individual lives, in our lodge, and in the global community.
Granada Hills Lodge No. 378 Vision Statement is to provide leadership and education that will maintain the ideals and tenets of the craft while adapting to the challenges of an ever-changing society with the ultimate aim to make good men better. In old time it was defined as a system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols but today as an organized society of men symbolically applying the principles of operative and architecture of science and art of character building, to make men better by strengthening his character, improving his moral and spiritual outlook and broadening his mental horizon,
We meet every Wednesday of the month at 16535 Rinaldi Street, Granada Hills, 91344. As a lodge, we strive to be active in our community. We have various charitable and educational events throughout the year, as well as social occasions. Some events are for members only, but many include our families.
Masonry is a community of men and their families who share similar beliefs and values. The fraternity finds it important to connect with other men of honor, compassion, love, trust, and knowledge, regardless of their race, color, religious beliefs, political views, sexual orientation, physical ability, citizenship, or national origin. We are friends and brothers, and are connected through this vital and uplifting organization of moral men.
Our continuing pursuit of truth, knowledge, ethics, and leadership skills makes us better men and brings more meaning to our lives. Learning the tenets of Freemasonry, paired with being an active part of our community, gives us the opportunity to develop leadership and organizational skills, and builds self-discipline through commitment and self-confidence.
As a member of the Freemasons, the Grand Lodge of California, and Granada Hills Lodge No. 378, we are a part of a worldwide organization that values tradition, history, and timeless wisdom. The traditions and core values of our fraternity are meaningful today and will endure for centuries to come because of our direct impact in our community, through our charities, and on a personal level.
Granada Hills Lodge No. 378 membership is open to men 18 and older who meet the qualifications and standards of character and intention, and who believe in a Supreme Being. Men of all ethnic and religious backgrounds are welcome.
One of Freemasonry’s customs is not to solicit members – men must seek membership on their own initiative. Anyone is welcome to request information about the fraternity.
